What is the National Junior Honor Society?
The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is a nationwide organization that was established to recognized the individuals who have shown excellence in the five pillars which the National Junior Honor Society consists of: scholarship, leadership, service, character, and citizenship.
When and why was NJHS initiated at Hurley?
The NJHS chapter began in the year of 2012 at Hurley. It was established by Mrs. Roxana Del Real who wanted individuals with the excellence in the five pillars of NJHS to be recognized for their outstanding work ethics and well established leadership roles.
Who is admitted into NJHS?
NJHS is a prestigious program that not anyone can get into. It requires for the child to currently be on the honor roll and for them to be self-motivated and disciplined. The NJHS chapter at Hurley is only open to the middle school, 6-8th grade. There are various procedures that must be completed in order for the student to be considered into the NJHS chapter at Hurley.
Officer roles:
President: Coordinates all NJHS activities with fellow members, attends all NJHS meetings, fills in any missing officer position, assists all officers, and makes sure all NJHS members are meeting NJHS requirements
Vice President: Provides insight and knowledge on all NJHS activities, attends all meetings, and assists the president
Secretary: Keeps notes and track of all meetings, must be organized and self-disciplined, proof reads any proposals, and attends all meetings
Treasurer: Manages NJHS's budget, attends all meetings, and helps make decisions with the other officers.
